In part because of sobering statistics about employment for disabled adults, there is a program based in [Massachusetts that helps high school graduates with autism spectrum disorder](https://cipworldwide.org/) make the difficult transition to higher education and the workforce. Called the College Internship Program, the program operates five centers in the U.S., [including one in Long Beach](https://www.presstelegram.com/2017/06/02/long-beach-program-empowers-autistic-youths-to-pursue-dreams-in-real-world/).
