We have been checking in with our alumni to learn about what they have been up to since leaving CIP. We recently caught up with Berkshire alum Rebecca K. She is scheduled to graduate from Lynn University in Spring 2021.
Rebecca has always been passionate about the performing arts. After researching various post-high school programs, she decided to relocate from her family home in Curaçao to attend CIP’s Berkshire program in Lee, Massachusetts. She was drawn to this program because of their performing arts offerings and the comprehensive support provided to students with autism and learning differences.
Rebecca was diagnosed with being the autism spectrum when she was three years old. While at CIP, Rebecca attended Berkshire Community College as a theatre major. During this time, she was able to work extensively with CIP Berkshire’s Creative Arts coordinator, Kara Demler, and earn her first film credit.“Overall, CIP was life-changing,” Rebecca commented. “They worked to help me become successful, gain life skills, and make realistic career goals. The staff is awesome at what they do.”
After attending CIP from 2016-2018, Rebecca transferred to Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida and is currently on track to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Drama from Lynn in Spring 2021.Since moving home to Curacao due to COVID 19, Rebecca is completing her 4-year degree online. She is studying and applying skills she learned at CIP including learning to drive, cooking, and time management.
As Rebecca prepares to graduate from college, she is also looking ahead for employment in her field of interest and hopes to find employment as a theatre actress, screenwriter, stage writer, or voice actress.
