College Internship Program to Host Panel Event in St. Louis

The College Internship Program is sponsoring “Thinking Positive About The Future,” a free event in St Louis on Thursday, February 18. The event will feature a panel of experts who work with young adults who have been diagnosed with autism, ADHD, and other Learning Differences. The event will be held from 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM at St. Louis University, 3050 Olive Street.

"Thinking Positive About the Future" was created as a national initiative of the College Internship Program (CIP) to share expertise and advice on transition-related topics for parents and professionals who work with students with learning differences. Since 2012, thousands have attended their events which have been held in New York City, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and other major metropolitan areas.

Speakers for the upcoming event include Jeanne Eichler, Faculty and OT Practitioner at St. Louis University; Deborah Davidson PhD, Founder of Bright Futures of St. Louis; Aaron Likens, author and Easter Seals Ambassador; Colleen Starkloff, Co-Founder of the Starkloff Disability Institute; Craig Strohbeck, Executive Director of Pathways To Independence; and Karen Thomas, CIP Bloomington Program Director. Each panelist will provide a brief presentation on their area of expertise, followed by time for questions from the audience.

CIP sponsors events in cities around the US as a vehicle to provide advice from experts in the Autism and learning difference community. Past panelists include Matt Asner, Director of Corporate Development at Autism Speaks; Alex Plank, Creator of Wrong Planet; Susan Moreno, Founder of MAAP Services; and Autism Consultant Brian R. King.

"It is wonderful to come together as a community and share our vision for the future--helping our young adults develop meaningful careers and purposeful lives,” commented former panelist Yudi Bennett, Director of Operations at Exceptional Minds.

Over the past several years, thousands of parents and professionals have attended Thinking Positive About The Future events sponsored by CIP. “Our events provide unique opportunities to learn about a wide variety of resources to help young adults with learning differences make successful transitions to adulthood,” commented Dan McManmon, President of CIP.
