Press Release: UC Berkeley and CIP Host New Transition Fair

 

Berkeley, CA  - UC Berkeley and CIP Berkeley (College Internship Program) are co-sponsoring “Pathways To The Future”, a free event on the UC Berkeley Campus on April 23, 2016. The event will feature employment, academic and transition opportunities for young adults who have been diagnosed with autism, Asperger’s, ADHD and other Learning Differences.

 

The event will take place on April 23rd from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM in UC Berkeley’s Cheney Hall, 2650 Durant Avenue, and will feature a variety of exhibitors and two presentations. Confirmed exhibitors include Microsoft, Computer Technologies Program (CTP), AASCEND, Alameda County Human Resources Services, Peralta Colleges, UC Berkeley, The College Internship Program (CIP), The Autism Insurance Project, Matters of Community, East Bay Innovations and Project Search among others. Young adults with learning differences and their families are invited to attend this free event.

 

In addition to the exhibitors, Paul Hippolitus, Director of the Disabled Students Program at UC Berkeley, and Michael Bernick, author of The Autism Job Club, will each deliver a brief presentation focusing on employment readiness.

“CIP is proud to co-host this inaugural event with UC Berkeley during Autism Awareness Month,” commented Dan McManmon, CIP President. “ With unemployment for adults on the autism spectrum hovering around 85%, this event will provide valuable information about a variety of services and employment opportunities,” he continued.
