The mission of the Diversity and Inclusion Council is to create a positive impact and opportunities to further diversity, equity, and inclusion through awareness, education, and empowerment. Our vision is to foster a diverse and inclusive CIP learning environment where differences are recognized, valued, and respected.

This past year, we prioritized the creation of the council to build a foundation and commit to a sustained focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion as an organization. We focused on educational opportunities and developing center resources that would continue to create awareness. We learned a great many things from our past inaugural year. Some of our accomplishments as we wrap up year one are:

  • Developing a vision and mission statement to guide our efforts

  • Creating and implementing a Celebration Calendar and Resource Library and Drive

  • Hosting a D&I all staff training in-service and kick-off event (accessible within Litmos)

  • Updated the annual performance review to include a section for employee reflection on inclusivity

  • Implemented an employee proposal form for each employee to have their ideas and voices heard

  • A scholarship program is in process as a commitment to our future students

The development and implementation of these sustainable projects and initiatives have already impacted change across many different aspects of CIP.

As we come together this year, the council is engaging in work to redefine D&I - our structure, priorities, and projects, based on last year’s feedback. Your ongoing feedback is appreciated as always.
