CIP Student Profile: Brevard Student Interns at Baer Air, Obtains Pilots License

I will be leaving CIP at the end of this semester. I have been at CIP for two years and I am not the same person I was when I first arrived. I am looking forward to taking the next step in my life but I will miss CIP and Florida greatly.

During my first year at CIP, I was not involved in many things. Then, in September 2009, I was elected as Secretary of the Student Senate. It made a difference to me because I felt like I could be a leader and role model for the student body and my fellow Student Senate members.

It gave me a lot of confidence in myself and this made it possible to move forward and become involved in many other activities and events.

Over the past year, I feel like I have accomplished even more goals. In August 2010, I obtained my FAA Private Pilot Certificate. This is something that I have wanted since I was 17 years old. Also, I have had the opportunity to intern in the aviation field at Baer Air and Valkaria Airport.

In March, I applied and interviewed for the Admissions Ambassador position at the Brevard Center and was hired. I have really enjoyed being a part of this program. I also attended Brevard Community College (BCC) in Melbourne for five semesters.

At the Spring Convocation, I was very honored to receive a plaque for Most Outstanding Progress and a Career Excellence Award as well as the winning second place in the CIP National Art Contest. I was astounded to receive these awards, but I was proud of myself and happy to know my parents could see me receive them.

I will be returning home to North Carolina in July where I hope to seek employment and attend school for Aviation Management at Guilford Technical Community College. I am very grateful for all of the support from my fellow students and the staff at CIP and I wish future students as much success as I have had.
