For students at CIP, many of whom are neurodiverse and navigating challenges such as autism or learning differences, the opportunity to perform in a fully-staged musical production is about more than just theatre. It’s a powerful form of self-expression, communication, teamwork, and creative confidence-building. The Addams Family—a show celebrated for its quirky humor and heartfelt themes of family and identity—offers the perfect platform.

CIP's Spectrum Playhouse at CIP Berkshire has a rich history tied closely to the mission of CIP. Originally established as a community arts venue in Lee, Massachusetts, the Playhouse is housed in what was once a historic church - transformed into a welcoming, accessible space for performances, education, and community events. Since its founding, the Spectrum Playhouse has become an integral part of the CIP experience, providing students with a professional setting to explore and showcase their artistic talents while also inviting the broader community to engage with the diverse abilities and stories of CIP students.

In recent years, the Playhouse has hosted everything from student-led plays and musical productions to guest performances and film screenings - all aimed at bridging the gap between creativity and inclusion. The upcoming production of The Addams Family continues that tradition, inviting the public to witness the magic that happens when neurodiverse students are given the tools, support, and stage to shine.
